Three Kittens & Mother Seek Good Home(s)

On July 18th, my wife and I rescued a skinny, black mother cat and her four kittens. The night before, I found one of them on a neighbor’s back porch crying loudly. It wasn’t the neighbor’s kitten and he didn’t know anything else. The next day, I saw a small black cat in our drive way and immediately guessed it was the mother. I watched her disappear into another neighbors barely cracked garage and told my wife who was home for the day. Later, she went over and piled three more kittens and the mother into a carrier and brought them home.

For the past month, we have raised and cared for them. We have placed one kitten so far, but the mother and three more need good homes as well. They are very playful and social, having been raised with our dog and two cats. None of them are mean to our dog and are only slightly wary of strange dogs (our friend’s dog as well as my sister’s dog). There are two girls and one boy as well as the mother of course. She is very sweet, enjoys being petted, but doesn’t seem to enjoy being held or cuddling in bed. She also has a tendency to give love bites (gentle, sweet) when you are petting her.

The kittens are in prime kitten phase, they enjoy wrestling with each other, playing with pretty much anything they can reach, racing around and every other kitten activity you can imagine. Unlike their mother, they also enjoy cuddling in bed (as well as playing get your toes, get your sister in the bed and bounce around like a crazy kitten). Being adopted as a pair or trio would make them the happiest I imagine, but adopting just one would be fantastic as well. Two of the kittens are black with a small white patch below their chins; one of them is a girl and the other a boy. The third is a very cute, female gray tabby. The mother is solid black, skinny and usually makes chirping noises when happy.

Here are some Mom & Kittens pictures if you would like to see more of what they look like. My wife (a recently certified Vet Tech) tested the mother for FIV/FeLV and she tested negative, which means the kittens should be okay too. They have also been given their first course of de-worming medication. Of course, you should take them to your vet for checkup / shots and to schedule a neutering or spaying.
